Operational rules for using Bit Happens, especially tools that perform external checks.
Test authorized assets only
Port Check, Advanced Nmap and any other active test may only be used against systems, domains or IP addresses you administer or have explicit permission to test.
Unacceptable use
Do not use Bit Happens for vulnerability exploitation, credential attempts, brute force, evasion, availability disruption, harassment, unauthorized mass scanning, bypassing Turnstile/rate limits or unlawful activity. Do not attempt to target private, loopback, link-local or cloud-metadata addresses.
Operational safeguards
The portal may enforce Turnstile, source/target limits, public-address validation, DNS TXT proof, allowlists and other restrictions. A UI confirmation does not obligate the backend to run a test.
Technical interpretation
Results represent a point-in-time observation from the stated perspective. An open port is not the same as a vulnerability; no response does not prove a global outage; Certificate Transparency data may be historical. Confirm important findings with a second source before acting.
No continuity guarantee
The tools are provided for technical assistance and may be affected by outages, third-party limitations or implementation changes. Usage may be blocked or limited when it creates operational risk or abuse.
